In case you didn't call in sick today and were curious, cough, the North American Age of Conan servers are all up and running. Despite shipping some 700,000 copies of the the game on day one the lag has been all green since I've begun playing. Patching speed is still capped as well. The graphics are actually better than what I saw in the beta and performance has improved too.

Welp, I better put my nose to the grindstone. I want to gtf out of Tortage as soon as humanly possible.

I got to try it out at a friends house. It's meh at best.

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this problem but the patcher is eating up about 70% CPU of my dual core and will patch about 30MB and then just stop and do nothing for at least 20 minutes. That's when I ctrl+alt+del and stop the patcher and restart it, only to get about another 30MB.

EDIT-- Make that about 5MB before I have to kill the patcher. For some reason, the patcher starts out at 50% CPU and then jumps to 70-75 and I can do nearly nothing... web browse, etc., unless I kill the patcher. Intel Core2 6300 - 2GB RAM - SLI 9600 GT - XP SP2

Hell, I have a ping going to my ISP's gateway and the patcher eats up so much CPU, the ping even stops until I kill the patcher. No wonder the patcher times out, it's killing itself, heh.

I'm really enjoying it so far, now level 25 and have encountered very few bugs. It's also running flawlessly @ 1680x1050 on highest quality mode, with 2x AA (haven't bothered to try higher) at 60+ FPS, on my 8800gt.

IMO the UI definitely needs some work, especially the chat and group interface - i.e. font colors, customization, locking toolbar abilities, group mates icon's on the minimap and how the pointers currently work etc..

Apart from that, I'm surprisingly pleased.

Good luck folks. Even as late as yesterday the closed beta was buggier than a termite mound and basically unplayable. I hope it does well for you all. I wish it was for me. I didn't buy it even and it was a huge item i wanted to get. Maybe in a year or so it will run better.

I haven't even had to chance to install it yet as my ISP has been having minor issues today. I've lost connection to the internet probably six times today and it's counting.

Blown away so far, props to them this is by far the best MMORPG launch I have seen.

Only complaint is they don't have a Cultural PvP RP or PvE RP server, not that I am a big RP fan but envied the community DAoC RP servers had, would probably play there. Hopefully they will bring up more servers as the day goes on.

That's funny, considering closed beta has been running great for weeks and was far from unplayable. The release version runs even better, so maybe your computer will be running better in a year or so, because the game isn't the problem.

The real question is AoC any good?
