Default Are Sarnaks slower than other races?

I tried making a Sarnak so I could play a little in Timorious Deep, but quickly got annoyed. It appeared that he was just too slow to be any fun to play with. Is it all in my mind, or do the different races have different movement speeds? Maybe it's just Sarnak, they're amphibious creatures if I'm not mistaken, are they faster in the water but slower on land than others?

It's a perspective thing -- the bigger something is the slower it seems to move. And Sarnaks are big.

All races have identical base speed, though.

My ogre feels slooooooooow, especially if I've got his racial +20% size on. But if I turn that off and use my Billy Doll which shrinks him 35%, then he feels like he booking along -- but he's running the same speed regardless. My high elves arne't all that tall, but they still feel faster if I shrink them too.

My Sarnak is a mystic with the 5% racial speed bonus and 45% from his SoW spell -- he doesn't feel slow no matter what size I have him SMILEY

Edit to add: You wanna see something that looks like it's stuck in molasses? Have a coercer charm or possess a dune scarab in Sinking Sands and use his troll illusion on it, then send it to attack something. . . . . .

Thats why I play as a ratonga, feels like they are getting close to warp speed when using any speed buff.
Those small legs working like there was no tomorrow

And it gets worse if you get the carpet from sinking sand, a huge ogre on a carpet moving at +40% speed, looks slower than a ratonga moving at +0% speed.
(unless you actually have them running beside each other)

Ah! So that's why riding the horse @ 32% speed doesn't feel much faster than Selo's or SoW around 20%.

Are you guys sure? Because the first character I rolled was an Ogre that I liked making huge and he didn't feel slow. I think we need a race, we need about a dozen people willing to create new characters of the same class with different races.

So how about heavy armor? Does that affect your run speed?

it's all about perception.

I have a lvl 80 coercer with a 52% runspeed horse. quite fast and you feel it.

yesterday I took my lvl 9 arasai ... so slooooowwww.

like people leveling a bard saying it's ok when it's you first toon.

But if you first leveled a bruiser, you'll find dirge fights are slow.

or having a full master/raid gear toon then playing with an ad 1, treasured gear toon. you'll think he's weak.

many more exemples I can give you ... it's just about perception and what you're used to.

Armor and weight have nothing to do with run speed or falling speed (Unless you're overweight)
