Not to mention that FFXI is on the PS2 and Xbox 360 as well. It's an online game but it's not exclusively to the PC.
Although FFXI is an online game, there is an end. You've beaten every boss in the game, got the best armor and weapon etc. All you need to do is sit back and wait for the next expansion. And yes... MMORPGS do have a story, it's not just wacking monsters with a stick. |

Well, until you hit lvl 10 it is Once you hit lvl 10 then you can actually start getting into the meat of the game. They kinda screwed over people who wanna get it for the 360 though...because on top of the Xbox Live you're paying for, you have to pay $13 a month for XI, and then tack on an extra dollar for each additional character you make.

You can play FFXI with Xboxlive Silver(free) its your choice to pay for Xbox live if you play other online games or something. And theres really no need for more than 1 character in FFXI since you can run all 20 classes on a single character.
also the PS2 version of FFXI can be installed on to a PS3 |

Mostly, I've figured just a ploy to get more people. Cause I surely wouldn't have played it otherwise. It is the first and only MMORPG I've played and will ever play simply because of the title. But in the end, there are plenty of things in this game that link to FF, contrary to what others have said here. Cid, Chocobos, Moggles, Tonberry's, Dragoon, ex, ex. It truly is a great FF world once you finally get to 75 and are able to explore the world and its story line more. Many great stories in which I think are better then most FF games out there.
