Default Do you ever wish you could reset to X level?

My Shaman's gear + spec are so poor that I wish I could reset him from 70 to 60 and re-do Outland.

My Paladin is pretty nicely geared + spec'd for tanking. (I just can't find a Karazhan guild.)
My Rogue was leveled to 70 for PvP only... and that's the character I log-on to when I want to PvP. (It makes sense.)

But my Shaman stands cold + alone, with 50 Gold to his name, in his level 60 PvP armour from before TBC was released, outside the Orgrimmar bank.

After glancing over the WOTLK talent tree's I can't wait to use him again... but that's a good few months away.
(Enhancement looks great.)

So I was thinking... would a level reset be plausible?
Is there really any harm in going from 70 to 60?
This'd be a COMPLETE rollback, skinning at 350? Not anymore it's not, it's back to the value it was at when you were level 60.
Same for Talent Points, Gold + items... back to your 60 stats you go.

I personally, at this point in time, WOULD pay for this service.
Either in Gold (Gold per level?) or a cash fee like the name change + realm transfer services.
(I just don't think Blizzard would like it. More strain on their servers?)

Anyone else think this is a decent idea? Or is it ultimately flawed and crappy?

Um..why?

You can respecc whenever you want and Instances are still full of the gear you need. If not...then professions are.

Just hit 70 on my priestess. Decked out in self tailored epics (5) and ran Kara twice. Upgrades of gear from BM, quests in AC and the two Kara runs with badges waiting. Even Holy specced she made SSO exhalted in like 2 weeks, has a nice neck now and maybe some day even the best healing trinket in the game.

I don't see why you couldn't do it?

I could respecc her to shadow, drop MC tailoring for Shadowweave and have an epic set again within days ready to melt faces

Or what is the problem that I am missing?

Yeah, I kinda get the desire ot redo TBC 'correctly' but you can still get the gear at 70. And the Northrend quest greens are roughly equivalent to heroic drops, so consider that even if you enter there with crappy gear you'll get much better gear for several slots in the first level.

Getting the gear from instances is, in my experience, difficult.

Factor in the "randomness" of drops that you actually want and you're talking 5+ runs for each item. Unless you're VERY lucky.

I would much rather be able to retake the quests related to each instance choose my reward for completion of said instance.

Questing would allow me to re-choose my reward so I could aim for the +Attack Power my Enhancement Shaman needs.

Maybe I'd have been able to craft certain items but not many. 5 tops.

Re-gearing isn't easy for classes.

For example if a Paladin wants to respec from Holy to Tank they'd have to drop all their +Heal gear and go hunt for +Def and +Block gear.

Getting +498 Def for my Tankadin took me roughly 3 weeks of instances and rep grinding.

Kinda, my first ever charachter was an undead warrior, way back at launch. I never got him past level 44 however, switching to a tauren druid, doing 60 endgame before switching to alliance and racking up several alliance 70's.

I want to go back and do the horde beginning quests because I bareley remember them But I think the best benefit would be from rerolling my undead warrior.

Tlyr... I kind of see what you mean now. I'm a bit obsessive about learning what works for my toon so I didn't gear incorrectly and, by and large, was fine with what i had at 70.

If i were in your shoes I'd either wait for WotLK and get gear off the quest greens or I'd look at things you can buy now. For example I was slightly undergeared at 70... so I bought the 3 Fel Leather blues and Chestguard of the Dark Stalker. Then I did a 2 quests in SH and got a ring and shoulders. You might want to simply look at the weak slots you have and find greens at 70 that fit your stats. Even if they're leather, but there's prolly some mail there too. Most of the BoE greens don't have secondary stats, but I remember getting a green helm on my spriest that was very high in dmg. Didn't have stam, regen, etc.... but it was a good bump to my primary stat.

Indeed classes with several specc can be difficult, but that problem may always exist..you never know what specc you will endup at 70.

Blizzard goes a bit towards changing that by changing stats to spellpower and not distinguish between healing and damage.

Ofc ppl whine about that in a a raid / drop / loot environment already....

IMO You should've geared him up in the gear that was provided through quests and stuff, lol... Level 60 PvP gear is easily replaced by even some level 60 green items in Outland.

Not to mention, I wouldn't want to see that... Ever. Especially not pre-60 changes. For example no changing from level 50 to level 40, only from 70 to a slightly lower level down to 60 at most.

IMO They need to add a feature that allows you to skip a COUPLE levels if you have high level characters... Such as level 40: level 10. Level 50: level 15. Level 60: Level 20. Level 70: Level 25.

In a way they do it with the Deathknight...If you have a lv 70 you unlock him at 55. I thought this would basically pave the way to unlocking other characters too at a higher level, if you have 1 or several 70s...but ofc it would totally kill the game on the lower level....atmosphere, zones and the auctionhouse for that area. So it seems just XP and travelling will be made easier / faster..soon also on Outland...
