Default So I did Recruit a Friend...

With TWO of my buds. and I was wondering what kind of team we should be to level quickest. I was going to level with a feral druid, Friend #1 is a Demo Warlock, and my Friend #2 WANTS to be a mage.

Thanks in advance.

Gee, that's a difficult question to answer. I mean, honestly. We know nothing about you or your friends, your likes and dislikes, or even what your preferred types of characters would be.

How's this for an answer? The three of you pick whatever type of characters each of you most prefer. Then the three of you work together to create a team that is stronger than the individuals working alone.

Any random group of three toons working together as a team will level much faster than any individual working alone. Of course this assumes that the three of you all have the same schedules and are online at the same time and all have the same preferances as to type of instances. After all, if one of you wants to be an Alliance and the other two want to be Horde...

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I want to know what three classes can mesh together well enough that we can level extremely fast because we want to hit endgame and maybe start arenas or raid.

I would personally suggest that one of your friends be a class that can heal and DPS - perhaps a Shaman. There are a couple of upsides to this:

*
As a feral Druid, you can tank successfully, but you can't heal yourself (or your friends) while in cat or bear form. A Shaman is able to DPS and heal at the same time.
*
When you hit level 40, the three of you will be rolling on different classes of armor (Druid on leather, Shaman on mail, Warlock/Mage on cloth), which means that almost any drop (except plate) will be usable by someone, and you won't be competing against each other on gear.
*
Having two DPS clothies will provide a lot of firepower - but it will make it tremendously hard for you to hold aggro (if you decide to tank), meaning that your friends will go "squish!" very easily.
*
Druids have a resurrection spell that can be used in battle; Warlocks can soulstone; Shamans can res themselves. This combo would make it so that in emergencies, you could rez yourself with the soulstone, the Shaman could self-rez, and you could battle rez the warlock, and keep on fighting.

Okay, I think I understand. Having fun playing a game has nothing to do with it. The goal is strictly to reach the maximum level the quickest possible way.

In that case, the answer is simple. Rent two more friends so you have a total of 5 people. Then arrange them the same way an optimal 5-man instance would be.

1. Healer
2. Tank
3. Mage
4. Melee DPS and Off Tank
5. Melee DPS

Then the 5 of you spend 8 hours a day (18 hours a day would be better) running instances without any questing at all.

I can't think of any way faster to level, can anyone else?

You're a bit bitter over a guy asking a very basic question on leveling in a group. Angsty because you don't have any friends in real life or WoW? Because that's the vibe I get.

Nice try on slamming me, but not very accurate. Both you and the original poster failed to detect the message under the sarcasm.

If you take a moment and scan the older threads, you'll see numerous threads all asking the same basic question. "What's the best class to level fastest?" Some have embellishments such as "with RAF" or "with a partner", so even that didn't make this thread unique.

And each of those other threads all had the same types of replies. "Play what you enjoy the most."

For the win, remember that this is a game. Games are to be enjoyed. You'll spend far more time playing a character if you enjoy it, rather than picking it simply in hopes of leveling it faster.

Pick the classes that you and your friends enjoy playing or think you may enjoy. You'll stand a better chance of reaching 80, along with a far better chance of continuing to play them after that happens. Remember, games are to be enjoyed!

Recently I started an alt to blow off some time, and to try playing the game a different way. Being a hack and slash raid-level warrior, I decided to try a caster Shaman. My friend (a raid-level shaman himself) just happened to be over at my place at the same time. Not only did he get a chuckle at me choosing to try a Shaman, but helped me understand the class a little.

Eventually me and him agreed to run our alts at the same time, with his priest joining us. We did a few levels as that, then we changed path and he got his warrior from another server onto our server. Now over 12 levels later, we have been running these characters at the same time, piece by piece. Sometimes we only play a few hours a week, sometimes well into 18 hours over a week.

Its a good combination, and we have alot of fun doing it. I'm speced Elemental Shaman and he is a Fury Warrior. I just toss off heals soemtimes, and he pulls out a shield if need be. And it works. We have fun. And thats the important thing.
(example: We spent 15 minutes standing around fishing. Why? Because I had cast Water Walking on each of us, and we were standing ON the water, fishing... As the people in Booty Bay watched on )

If your looking to have your team level the fastest, look at reducing downtime. Thats where most solo-leveling goes wrong - the time taken to be able to fight again. Get at least one of you being tank-like (the one that takes the punishment) and one heal-like. It doesnt have to be the main spec. As xaratherus said, If you go Feral Combat druid, and Bear form, you are tank-like while still laying down some beat-down. You have the Demo Warlock, so thats utility caster. If you can get something heal-like (priest, another druid, shaman, paladin) you can reduce your downtime significantly. You can have your healer friend sit out weaker fights if he needs downtime, while you and your other friend still at least do something.
